Investments
I have put money into 42 companies over the years, 25 of them directly and 17 through Kara Ventures, the fund I started with Réna Kakon to back African founders. People sometimes ask why I never did an MBA, and the honest answer is that I spent the money on this instead, which taught me a lot more about how companies actually work.
I also passed on n8n twice, and it is worth about two billion dollars now, so I try to stay humble about my judgment.

Kara Ventures
Kara is the fund I run with Réna Kakon, writing cheques of 25,000 to 100,000 dollars into African companies at the point where most investors still think it is too early. We travelled through 14 African countries before we started it, because you cannot back founders in a market you have only read about.
We invest in African startups that want to hire us.
